Review of Waxwork (1988) by Al M — 12 Aug 2010
Waxwork's wax museum plot is basically just an excuse to hurl characters in various cliche horror plotlines: werewolves, mummies, vampires, the marquis de sade, zombies, etc. all make appearances as the characters are hurled through time or dimensions or whatever where they are usually destroyed by the scenario there.
Cheesy and gory, Waxwork is an enjoyable film: the individual segments are fun even if the overall plot line seems a bit tacked on and forced. Not a great film in the history of horror, but still a fun little piece that pays homage to many of the classics.
