Review of Watership Down (1978) by Ryan D — 02 Apr 2011
The trailer felt like BS. "The most unusual and provocative film you are ever likely to see" it said. It's not exactly a normal kids movie with all of the violent bunny death. But it's not all that interesting for adults either.
Classic theme of animals looking for a better home, being driven for their last home, and facing dangers along the way. It does step farther out of the box than others of its genre, but I had the movie hyped up to me by a review and the trailer and it fell very short of expectations.
My favorite things about the movie were the short story at the intro and the music at the very end of the credits.
