Review of Watership Down (1978) by Keenan S — 12 Aug 2011
You may have heard of this film through the novel or perhaps because of the film Donnie Darko. Either way, this film is one of my all-time favorite animated films as well as being one of my top 100 favorite films because it is a very dark and moody film that also works as a terrific fable about the holocaust.
This is also one of the most violent PG-rated films I've ever seen (A rabbit getting its throat torn out and rabbits being violently killed by a dog), and you will never look at rabbits the same way ever again.
I sincerely hope to God that the rumored remake never happens because it would be a dire mistake.
