Review of Watership Down (1978) by Michael R — 21 Apr 2012
Classic movie about bunnies. The psychic rabbit no one listens to realises the warren will be destroyed and his pal gets a tiny few who think for themselves to leave before the tractors kill everyone. They find another warren.
That is run by keeping everyone in their place, everyone is equal but a police state rules for an elite- rabbit socialists. They try to kill the hero's group, so to survive and create a new warren with individual choices to live their lives the ragtag bunnies decide to liberate the evil warren. Richard Adams joined the few in British letters such as Orwell and Ian Fleming in attacking the Fabian socialist thinking that gave the world stealth fascism by way of seductive koolaid, scare us with the right and lure us with the left.
