Review of Watership Down (1978) by Don N — 22 Mar 2009
This is a wonderful animated adaptation that children and adults can relate too. The common themes of freedom, courage, loyalty, fellowship, honor etc. transcend all cultures and ages so the viewer can easily relate to this delightful tale of rabbits struggling to establish a new community against perilous circumstances.
The featured allegories in Watership Down will strike a chord even with younger audiences and sadly lack resonance in our contemporary society. Very good animation prior to CGI and terrific music to accentuate the moods of the film.
Highly recommended.
