Review of Water Lilies (2007) by Ian V — 10 Sep 2009
I really wanted to love this movie, but in the end it fell a tad short for me. I like the story of it and the actors all do fantastic jobs for the script provided...but something about the characters kept me at a distance.
It might be the old "Indie Stare Syndrome": when characters in a "deep" movie trade in staring awkwardly at things instead of...talking...or really reacting. It can work sometimes, but this movie kind of overdose it.
Basically, it's okay, but I don't know how strongly I could recommend this.
