Review of Water for Elephants (2011) by Thomas A — 08 Mar 2012
This is the first Rob Pattinson movie where I see him not as a tournament-competing wizard or a pale-skinned vampire...but as an ordinary college dropout who struggles to make ends meet by joining a circus train he accidentally jumps into.
The fact that Reese Witherspoon naturally has more experience in the romance movie genre is irrelevant: they both play great chemistry in the movie. And that formula, when compounded with the fact that audience these days may long for a historical fiction movie that is both romantic and fresh, is the reason why "Water for Elephants" may carry plenty more weight than other contemporary romance titles.
