Review of Water for Elephants (2011) by Lucas M — 23 Mar 2012
A bland, slow-paced depression-era love story about a college student (Robert Pattinson) left penniless after his parents pass in a car accident and so he runs away with the circus. There he falls in love with the wife of the ringmaster (Reese Witherspoon) and also an elephant.
The chemistry between the two leads is unconvincing and indulgent. Even with the elephant. Cristoph Walz is always a pleasure to watch but he seemed a bit strained here as the malevolent ringmaster. In the end this film is not worth your time.
