Review of Water for Elephants (2011) by Steve B — 14 Apr 2012
I've not seen many movies that feature circus scenes or have plot lines related to circuses. 'Octopussy', 'Killer Clowns' and an episode of 'Quantum Leap' comes to mind but I'm sure there are others.
This movie is a refreshing change for my usual palette and stays it's course at a circus and circus life in general making the journeys town to town by train, selling the tickets, packing them in and entertaining the crowds.
It also features some of the gritty, shadowy 'behind the scenes' of circus life and how what the audience see is just smiles and illusion. Some colourful characters feature, some drama, love triangles and a very long train.
The movie is opened up and told from an elderly gentleman's point of view and what happened to him back in the 1930's.
