Review of Water for Elephants (2011) by Tom L — 14 Apr 2012
This is a really good movie. Most people who read the book will appreciate it more, but even if you didn't its still a very enjoyable film.
Jacob Jankowski is the protagonist, preparing for his final exams at Cornell. He plans on being a veterinarian. When the test begins he gets pulled to the side and is told that his parents have died in a car crash. He no longer has a home, a future, or any family.
Wondering the side of a train track he jumps a moving train which happens to be a traveling Circus. He forms a relationship with the Boss, Christopher Waltz. He also has a crush on his wife, Marlena. She stars in his main attraction. He becomes the Circus's vet and helps train the new attraction, an elephant named Rosie. When he falls for Marlena and she falls for him, August (The Boss) becomes violently abusive. Things get dangerous, and in the end Marlena has to choose her fate.
This movie is worth seeing for many reasons: The book, the acting, the directing, etc.
Its very well put together and the actors; Reese Witherspoon, Robert Pattinson, and Christoph Waltz, are stupendous.
I give this movie 4 stars.
