Review of Water for Elephants (2011) by G M — 27 Apr 2012
This film unfortunately fails to truly capture the story's depth, intensity, and the overwhelming power of love to overcome uncertainty, fear, and even death. Robert Pattinson, of course, is stellar once again as he exhibits his signature stiff, monotonous, and ever-so-shallow performance.
Reese Witherspoon, whom I normally love, was unimpressive, as well. The pair, however, beautifully fill the screen with such captivating photogenic qualities that I was inevitably mesmerized into overlooking the poor acting and lack of chemistry.
There are films that provide great entertainment and escape just by the sheer beauty of its actors and cinematography; this is certainly one of them.
