Review of Water for Elephants (2011) by Daniel S — 28 Jan 2012
A montage of recycled footage does not work at developing a relationship, in fact the relationship between Reese Witherspoon and Robert Pattinson never feels believable and both perform like they just don't care.
Christoph Waltz gives the only decent performance although it's more Hans Landa in a topcoat for my liking. If you're looking for hyperbolic spectacle then give this a miss, if you're looking a film with well developed characters and a believable relationship then give this a miss, if you're looking for the cinematic equivalent of a Hallmark card with Hal Holbrook doing his best Gloria Stuart impression then this film is for you.
