Review of Water (2014) by V V — 14 Oct 2007
Visually, this is the most satisfying Mehta's film. The scenery and the white clothing, the ambient of the river bank, I might say it's perfect. Yet, as disturbing as it is, it lacks the 'grand treachery' of Earth or the profound 'alienation' of Fire.
The Gandhi figures through the film, and leaves at the end as deus ex machina, leaving all the threads unweaved.
