Review of Water (2005) by Ken S — 22 Mar 2008
Female oppression in the name of God. As with most forms of subjugation, religion is the excuse behind the political behaviour. This story is at the time of the rise of Gandhi, whose liberating interpretation of holy teachings helped to partly liberate many classes of Indian society.
This film focuses on the plight of widows in the 1930's, serving a purpose for 2000 years which would no longer be tolerated.
