I had heard about this trilogy when it first came out and have a weakness for Indian films. It was tremendous, uplifting, heartbreaking, riveting, colorful, just a truly realistic picture of what a society will do in the name of religion to avoid doing the responsible and compassionate thing.
A prime example of how horriblly we can treat people we said we loved and held close at one time.
