Review of Watchmen (2009) by Jay R — 09 May 2013
A visually jaw dropping, remarkable, emotional and engrossing movie experience. Watchmen has a very different approach to things and Zack Snyder handles everything very well. Even at a running time of 2 and three quarter hours, Watchmen is rarely dull, but flawed in some places.
There are many scenes that jump out as completely random and unnecessary. Other scenes are laughable, some are meant to be some aren't. The good performances outweigh the iffy ones. Jackie Earl Hayley as Rorshach, Jeffery Dean Morgan as The Comedian, Matthew Goode as Ozymandias and ESPECIALLY Bill Crudup as Dr.
Manhatten are all fantastic in their roles. Patrick Wilson and Malin Akerman are not as strong and are sort of weak links. The special effects in this movie are insanely incredible and the fight scenes are choreographed to show both swoftness and utter violent brutality.
This is a very entertaining flick as I have not read the book. I have been told sit is very accurate to the book, so this movie should entertain audiences who havent read the book and give orgasms to the ones who have.
Well done Zack Snyder. Thumbs up!
