Review of Watchmen (2001) by Ashley M — 13 Apr 2014
Visually good, if a bit dark and bleached of colour - this is a mid-1980s film shot in 2008 where, I guess, we stylistically reduce colour saturation.
Some casting dubious - I was not convinced by Malin Akerman (Laurie Jupiter) and Dr Manhaattan's presence was a bit underwhelming - his lip synch seemed off. Matthew Goode as Veidt seemed too light-weight.
Quite good story delivery overall, Jackie Earle Haley as Rorschach was great, as was Jeffrey Dean Morgan as the Comedian.
Plot varied from the book though, which was odd and did not seem necessary.
Fights and FX were good, but left feeling it could have been even better.
