It's a beautiful and faithful adaptation which makes it a wonderful companion to Moore's graphic novel and a joy to watch for those who loved the book, but in being so faithful to the graphic novel it limits its ability to excel in its own medium.
Don't get me wrong, I love this story, and I love this movie, but if it's your first exposure to Watchmen it may leave you a little underwhelmed. It's a lot to throw at you over the course of a 2 hour 43 minute movie, and a lot of the nuance you can stop and focus on on the page zips by before it can be fully appreciated on the screen.
