Review of Watchmen (2001) by Kendyl C — 17 Oct 2014
Though it's not wholeheartedly faithful to Alan Moore's graphic novel and has a narrative that may confuse audiences not remotely familiar with its characters, Watchmen is directed with the depth many superhero films even stutter to hint at.
The comic book-esque cinematography and striking visuals are courtesy of Zack Snyder--which compete with 2007's 300 as some of his grandest--and Jackie Earle Haley's performance as Rorschach couldn't have been better.
If it's not the greatest superhero movie ever made, it's definitely one of the most achieving.
