Review of Watchmen (2001) by Brandon S — 10 Aug 2016
Say what you will about the always controversial transition from paper to celluloid, but this is a masterful piece of visual storytelling. Snyder is a brilliant composer of images and less a proprietor of character work, and that fact is generally what deters me from his work, his stunningly strong re-adaptation of DAWN OF THE DEAD notwithstanding.
However, WATCHMEN has the added benefit of being based on one of the great literary works of all time, as well as an astounding cultural study and a study of human nature, using superheroes as the catalyst for that.
