Review of Waste Land (2010) by Joshua D — 23 Mar 2011
Vik Muniz travels back to his native country of Brasil to a land fill in Rio. There he recruits a handful of "pickers" who daily go through the garbage searching for recycable marterials to assist him in an art project that will help to open eyes and heats of those who see the finished works, and open eyes and hearts of those as well who participate.
The art is beautiful and edgy, the people involved are improvished yet strong and this film teaches a whole lot more than just art.
