Review of Warriors of Virtue (1997) by Tom R — 24 May 2009
In its infinite cheesiness, there's something likable about this movie. Unlike a lot of movies I watched as a kid like Home Alone and 3 Ninjas, I have NO nostalgic ties to this movie, so the fact that I enjoyed it as an adult is something.
I would probably say it is probably because of the most flamboyantly dressed and acted villain in the history of martial arts movies. The kangaroo fighters were undoubtedly inspired by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Tank Girl.
My biggest complaint is that the fight scenes are plagued by a terrible strobe effect. They made the fight scenes so less vibrant. Also, the movie becomes less interesting after the first act. But all in all, it's entertaining enough while it lasts and in its badness, it's somehow good.
