I can appreciate how this stirred up all of TWN into a patriotic fervor, but this is not a good movie. The riveting history of the Taiwan aborigines deserve to be better told. The bombastic score is an assault to my ears and CGI effects are disastrous.
If you are incapable of decent CGI, or don't quite have the budget for it, then dont flood your movie with it. For all the credit it took for revitalizing the TWN film industry, it fell for some of the worst, lazy instincts of Hollywood blockbuster filmmaking, and is devoid of originality or genuine feeling.
Lead actor, however, is amazing. V disappointing and grossly overrated.
