I watched the original version (4hrs instead of the North American release of 2.5 hrs). I was totally taken away by this historical epic story, and beautiful sceneries. This film had no slack. It keeps you hooked on for the entire time.
You don't even feel like that much time had passed. Since this is a foreign film though, you will need to read the subtitles for the entire time (Seediq, Japanese and minimal Chinese), best to not watch this at night as you need quite a bit of concentration.
