Usually back in the 1980's when we had a huge movie released like the original Wargames, we had always hoped that in 2 or 3 years there would be an awesome sequel. Most of the time, that happend, but not with Wargames.

Here's the latest casualty. A sequel that I really wanted to see happen for years! Wargames: The Dead Code. Not great by any means, but FAIR. It's fair if you DON'T look at this film as a sequel, but as a stand alone movie.

I just keep wondering why the hell studios like MGM in this case, and others like WB wouldn't just grow a pair and either make real sequels or at the very least, spend some real money and do decent remakes! WB is releasing Lost Boys 2: The Tribe later this month TO DVD, and next up for them is New Jack City 2.

It just boggles the mind! I think Wargames really deserved a good sequel with the original actors involved! This film started out pretty bad, looked cheesy as hell, has the straight to dvd look, which just kills me, and in fact I wanted to turn it off after the first 5 min.

To my dismay, it actually really is a sequel to Matthew Broderick's Wargames. ONLY for the fact that this film mentions the events of the original movie in the second half. With that said, I gave it a chance, and for something that was made for dvd, it actually got interesting.

Something that almost NEVER happens with straight to dvd sequels. But this isn't saying much. You just can't get away from the fact that this project was very low budget, and that just bugs the hell out of me.

Straight to video sequels to big movies. SIGH :( Makes you just want to tap on a head of a studio exec and say, HELLO??? Why not do it right?? Has really nothing to do with the original film, AGAIN, even though the original is mentioned.

It's just another straight to video sequel, Like 8MM 2 or whatever, that just borrows the title. But a little bit better than something like 8MM 2. Don't even get me started on that piece of horseshit! At least it seems like the filmmakers were trying for SOMETHING! I guess remake fits this better, even though apparently it isn't.

What I loved about Matthew Broderick's Wargames was the fact that you really got to know those kids and that them starting a war, etc... was actually possible. Here it seems kind of forced. It's just not very convincing.

Even though it was interesting to see kids of today using Windows, etc... I'd really love to see a big budget Wargames sequel. I guess it's really never going to happen at this point. If anyone out there wants to see it, lemme know.

Just shoot me and email and I'll tell you where you can check it out.
