It may look like a cheesy film but it's actually an intelligent thriller with a message that's more than valuable in today's society. Matthew Broderick is a lone high school student who accidently opens a game which puts the US at war with the Russians.

The back half of the film has Broderick and Ally Sheedy (as another high schooler) trying to find the original programmer of the system in order to prevent World War III. The movie is constantly engaging and has more than enough ideas to keep us interested.

The last scene involving a game of Tic-Tac-Toe is a brilliant use of music and sound design. With all the Myspace incidents and identity thefts that have occured recently, the movie feels all too realistic with the possible consequences of abusing technology.

An instant classic.
