Review of Warcraft (2016) by Marcus H — 24 Jul 2016
Sure there's a few predictable moments but lets not play here. This film is everything it needed to be: action packed, unforgiving, PG-13 enough for the youngsters but never childish to the point an adult couldn't enjoy, and the special effects are top notch here.
This film has some of the best CGI ever; literally every shot is a digital tour de force. The subtle moments of passive magic alone showcase why fantasy can be so engaging. A moment to suspend ones disbelief, will transport them into another realm; full of brawny orcs, dwarfs & trolls, elves pointy ears, and mages with glowing eyes.
Perhaps some of the actors were miscast, not to say there weren't all great but maybe they needed more poignant chemistry in their matchups or fleshed out dialogue and some more exposition. An addition of about 20mins would have gone a long way; they obviously want to create an anthology series and with such rich source material why not.
Easily one of the best Video Game to Film adaptions hands down. Right into the action, sweeping across a beautifully rendered land; don't miss it!
