Not a player, but I thought this was absorbing, interesting and lots of fun. The open ending is perhaps a bit arrogant and unsatisfying, but up until that it's mostly fine. Jones does a great job wrangling all the elements.

Fimmel, Patton, Kebbell and Foster all give fantastic performances. The mocap and CGI are outstanding. My biggest issue is the hodgepodge of accents. Fimmel seems to be doing his Ragnar Lothbrok accent for some reason, while Ruth Negga, who plays his sister, is using her native Irish.

The rest of the cast are split between British and American, but not along any lines of in-film nationality or race. But this is a small quibble, really. As far as quality of the game-to-screen transfer goes, I'm unqualified to comment, but in itself I think it's the best 'based on a videogame' movie yet - just pipping Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.
