As a former gamer, I can say that Unfortunately unless you have play the game you do not get all of the nuances or the character development that someone who has played the game will have automatically.
Been Foster played a brilliant role in this movie. The cast was amazing, the voiceover is unrivaled, and visual effects are stunning. If it's difficult to watch, it is just because you don't gknow the full story or have the inundated interest.
It's difficult to fit it in to a two hour film.
