Review of Warcraft (2016) by Drew T — 01 Mar 2018
While Warcraft might not be the greatest of it's kind, high-fantasy movies with big production value aren't exactly a dime-a-dozen. Lord of the Rings this is not; the human characters (who we spend most of our time with) are on the dull side, and the story isn't breaking any new ground. However, the effects, costumes, and locations are vibrant and fun to look at (the Orcs are especially well done). With a few fun action scenes and over-top-characters thrown in, it's hardly worth the 28% it's ended up at.
Warcraft may not be a truly great movie, but it's at least as good as many of the cheesy fantasy romps of the 80s were. If you enjoy flickls like Beastmaster or Dragonslayer, or are a fan of the titular game franchise, this is at least worth a rental.
