Review of Warcraft (2016) by Mag1Cb0X — 15 Jun 2016

There are few indicators of the idiocy of critics regarding anything in the sci-fi or fantasy genres than their rigid adherence to tropes. If I have to read another review of Warcraft that complains that Lothar isn't Aragorn enough and Medivh isn't old enough to be Gandalf, then I'm going to tear my hair out. I enjoyed this film quite a bit and am very disappointed in mainstream critics who should have been giving mediocre at worst reviews, who instead are giving terrible reviews to a movie with a) a fairly complex plot, b) engaging characters with motivations, c) a nuanced look at a conflict that isn't just "good guys vs. bad guys", which often is split down racial or species lines.

This is not the best film around. In fact, it's likely a 7 out of 10. But the critics are so wrong in this case, I feel that the positive user reviews are warranted.
