Review of War Room (2015) by Chris D — 21 Sep 2015
Great film, loved every minute of it. A breath of fresh air, a departure fiction back in to reality.
Most movies you walk out of and forget the next day, this one I wont. It was impacting and thought provoking... which is what movies are meant to be about.
Every movie has an angle, most try to portray families as broken, which most 80%+ are not... it's great to see a movie that the characters are trying to be real adults and reconcile, rather than going to Vegas for a one night stand and pretending that won't effect an ongoing relationship (like most movies do).
The reason this is a huge success, is that this is what the mainstream public want to see more of, and as this movie has now funded another 20, I can't wait to see the next 20 films, and then tv show spin-offs and a bit of normal family entertainment with normal family values.
There's far too many dysfunctional movies based around New York City (the words cesspool of failure). No-one in the real world lives like they do and no-one wants to - why would you want to live in disorder when you could be happy and have great self worth as a byproduct of your choices!
