Review of War Photographer (2001) by Diana Y — 29 Oct 2007
(Saw this a few years ago, twice.) Still as powerful. Sometimes it could be demystifying to reveal who the photographer is behind the camera, but this documentary still kept that mystic of James Nachtwey and his work.
The film does a great job in giving the viewer an up close and real personal view of how Natchwey shoots and the danger he goes through just to bring us a visual testimony of human distress, turmoil, and loss.
No other photographer has gotten close to touching history. Disturbing, depressing, stunning. One of my favorite photographers of all time.
