Definitely my least favorite Spielberg movie. A very one-sided "War," unlike other Alien Invasion movies, it's less about defeating the aliens as just surviving, focusing on the story of a divorced dad with custody over the weekend trying to live through the invasion with his two kids.
The idea of looking at an alien invasion through the survival of just one family, rather than the world defeating them, isn't bad in itself, but when the characters of that one family are generic and boring, it makes for a mediocre movie.
