Review of War of the Arrows (2011) by Sagaciousfrank . — 03 Jun 2017
A decent Korean offering that succeeds on how fast paced, thrilling and entertaining it is. The action is well shot, and the story and characters are simple and easy to follow. The film gives you just enough information and background about the main characters (though really it is mostly one) and puts them in enough believable peril that I was on board very early into the story.
There are a handful of implausible-to-highly-implausible moments - the ravine/cliff face jump being the main culprit (you'll know if you watch it) - which marr the experience a little, but is overcome by the style and panache of its execution.
A strong Asian film and far better than the recent overrated 'Ip Man' trilogy. 4/5*.
