Review of War, Inc. (2008) by Kevin B — 23 Nov 2008
Like "Network" and "Thank You for Smoking" before it, along comes a movie to tackle the sheer hypocrisy of the American Military Industrial Complex, and it pulls it off. At times I was even afraid to laugh because a lot of what you see is not too far from truth.
Hilary Duff is great and John Cusack shows his writing chops. If the movie's intent is to make you think about the business of war, one only need hear this line: "War is the violent reallocation of investment clients.
" While it isn't nearly as layered as its predecessors, the display of the American image (portrayed in a melding of Popeye's Chicken restaurants and lucrative trade shows inside a war zone) as the eventual global corporation to rule us all, is almost too unsettling to be laughable.
