Review of War Horse (2011) by Branden M — 18 Jul 2012
A young but mature teenager named Albert has enlisted to serve in World War I, due to his beloved horse being sold into calvary.
War Horse offers a running time of 146 minutes, but it rarely fails to entertain. In fact, seeing War Horse is a fantastic experience that delivers more than just a story about a horse and it's owner. It is able to bring thrills, action, suspense, and a poignant side as well. However, the film seems to forget about Albert because in the middle of it, he is barely there. Instead, we are forced to see the stories of other characters. All of these tales are quite brilliant, especially the one with the two German brothers, because it gives an insight to the both sides of people in the war, rather than one alone. So yes, there are some flaws, but other than that the film is quite captivating.
