Undoubtedly, the horse is the star of this film (with best supporting actor going to the bolshy goose from the beginning of the movie.) Perhaps unsurprisingly for a story dealing with war and animals, it strays occasionally into the realms of the sentimental, but if you can deal with that then overall the film is moving and thought-provoking.
