Review of War Horse (2011) by David O — 11 Jan 2015
Clearly Spielberg gives a faithful adaption as the film reads very transparently as a book/play. Although filled with sentimentally, Spielberg's theatrical cheese stands out as more oddly placed than his more fictional ventures.
Never the less War Horse proves to be an uplifting tale with a strong story of family and companionship nestled nicely next to a cinematic portrayal of war with powerful representations of loss and the burdens of war.
