War Horse is beautifully filmed and the story is engrossing, but the film never really stirs the soul or evokes any sort of emotional reaction. It is a movie that you watch but never really become a part of.
A solid effort from one of the most gifted storytellers in the history of the medium, but not even close to a truly Spielbergian experience.
