The problem with War Horse is that the story is intended for children, but the movie is not. The plot is a simple tale about a boy and his horse that kids would love, but it's set in a bleak and violent movie that kids won't enjoy.
On the other hand, adults may appreciate the well-crafted war scenes in this film (which are good), but those parts are then undercut by sappy moments or cheesy lines. Why was this movie nominated for Best Picture?
