Dramatic, intense and emotional, 'War for the Planet of the Apes' surprises by being a deep, intelligent and challenging film with a number of complex moral issues at its centre, instead of the all-out action-packed affair that you'd be forgiven for expecting.
That's not to say that it doesn't have any action at all, it's just so much more than that. Full of memorable characters, as well as being beautifully shot with great cinematography and stunningly realistic CGI (those expressions are amazing) that bring the apes to vivid life, it's an absolute treat.
A truly fitting finale to Caesar's epic story and superb ending to what has been one of the best and most consistently entertaining trilogies in years.
