Review of War for the Planet of the Apes (2017) by Nitpicker . — 03 May 2018
Holocaust and exodus overtones with Caesar bringing the apes to the land of milk and honey.
Pros.
- A nice ending to complete the trilogy.
- CGI is great.
- Nova.
Cons.
- Woody Harrelson.
Final Thoughts.
They went all in with the story of Exodus, complete with slavery, leaving the masters, a flood that wipes out their enemies, and a leader taking them to a new land to start new.
Woody Harrelson is doing the crazy war guy gimmick. I wasn't impressed with anything he did here. I think he's a distraction.
Maurice's relationship with a human from the last movie is seen all the way through this time around. It was nice to see that interaction that was missing from the last movie.
I thought the escape was too easy. The holes popping up without guards noticing. A guard that storms the cage with a full set of keys.
I'm not a gun waving patriot and even I think the anthem and the flag burning was too much. Have some respect.
All in all, the trilogy ends strong.
