Review of War for the Planet of the Apes (2017) by Robert D — 31 Dec 2017
This movie straight up floored me. I walked into it with no expectations and every aspect of this movie blew me away. The story was perfectly paced, the apes felt human, there were no out of place moments, there were numerous twists, the cinematography was gorgeous, the effects were breathtaking, and the ending was a great conclusion.
I can't think of any dull moment because the film was so intriguing. Ceaser had a magnificent journey of revenge and it was just so riveting. In the overall story, the main characters had to overcome so many obstacles, and that builds your attachment for them.
The buildup was expertly done and the payoff was just as good. The music was also a major part of this film because in some portions there wasn't any dialogue, and those scenes were extremely powerful.
I don't know how Andy Serkis doesn't already have an Oscar because his performance was perfect. Right after finishing the movie I almost started it again because it's perfect in so many ways.
