Review of War for the Planet of the Apes (2017) by Jaskaran D — 20 Dec 2017
I really loved the rebooted Planet of the apes series. Rise was great, and Dawn as Great. But when it comes to War, I think War maybe the best conclusion to a movie trilogy since Toy Story 3. This movie is beyond amazing, its a masterpiece.
The story takes two years after Dawns events, and humans and apes aren't getting along, the humans want war, but Caesar doesn't want war, he's always wanted peace between humans and apes, and now he has to fight in a war he never wanted and didn't start.
After Caesar losses more of his kind, he starts to loose more of his soul being filled with rage and vengeance. But doing so, he puts his kind into greater dangers. The story line is beautifully told with poignant narrative, Heartbreaking scenes and extremely emotional and moving ones, I can't think of another way to make this movie, it has no errors.
The emotion is in the right place, the intensity is really grand, and heck even some jokes they throw in are actually funny. The visual effects are the best I've seen since Avatar. The apes look extremely real and I sometimes forget that they're CGI.
The score is simply fantastic, Michael Giacchino is at it again with an amazing score that fills us with a variety of emotions. And lets not forget the best aspect of this movie, Andy Serkis as Caesar.
He nails it as Caesar, and this is easily his greatest performance ever. He puts so much emotion in his acting and he makes the audience really relate to Caesar and what he's going through. War for the planet of the apes is a bleak and poignant movie, and this movie stands out as one of the greatest films in movie history.
With a extremely poignant and powerful narrative, best visual effects since Avatar, incredible score by Michael Giacchino, and a amazing and incredibly moving performance by Andy Serkis, This movie is a Masterpiece and should be a contender for Best Picture this year.
