Review of War for the Planet of the Apes (2017) by Flexedacorn — 13 Jul 2017
War of the planet of the Apes was a great conclusion to this Ape trilogy, and a must see for fans of the series. The heart and dedication to detail that went into the motion capture of the apes, is the best cinema has to offer.
This is partly due to the amazing performance given by Andy Serkis as the main protagonist Caesar and the rest of the ape cast. When I first watched the prequel film back in 2011, I was a little biased as I wasn’t a fan of the Tim Burton remake that came prior to its release.
I am so glad I took a chance on this reimaging of the series, as I was shocked at the depth of these films. Matt Reeves and writers took a series that can come across as extremely campy, and turned it into a modern day epic.
The story of Caesar and his apes is one of the most compelling trilogies I have ever watched. I highly recommend watching this trilogy in its entirety as the weight of some early consequences echo through to the later films.
