Review of War for the Planet of the Apes (2017) by Raccoondaddy — 13 Jul 2017
Right away, I've never been a fan of the Planet of the Apes series, old or new. So I really had to look at the movie at face value. The entire movie is top-notch quality. The writing was fairly predictable, but it had its moments that shine. Especially how they give the Apes more human or emotional qualities so that you can relate to their struggle. Its a little odd, that by the time the movie is finished, you're wishing for humanity's (or at least the antagonist's) death. The movie does end well, but seems as though there needed to be a transition towards the old movies. (I know enough to remember that the old ones take place way into the future).
Now that I've officially seen one of the films, it has piqued my interest into watching the rest. Good flick and only falls short, with there being too much focus on drama and less on action. After all, this movie is called "WAR for the Planet of the Apes".
