Review of War for the Planet of the Apes (2017) by Rebecca31 — 13 Jul 2017
This is the Summer blockbuster movie I’ve been waiting for and it’s finally here. Planet of the Apes is a trilogy of prequels I never expected to love but with each and every movie the story gets better and better.
The tone changes and now we’re here. The darkest of the three. War. And make no mistake this is very much a war movie throughout, the relationship between humans and apes beyond the breaking point. It’s violent, intense and complete with a powerful soundtrack.
If you’re a fan of the previous movies then under no circumstance should you miss this. Andy Serkis has well and truly established himself as a master of motion capture. His performance is captivating, Caesar is up there with Gollum and King Kong.
I could go on and on so somebody please just give the man an Oscar already. Highly recommended and if you can wait patiently like I didn’t make sure to catch it in 2D not 3D. One of the best trilogies you’ll ever watch.
