Review of War for the Planet of the Apes (2017) by Drlowdon — 20 Jul 2017
After the pretty forgettable Tim Burton version this latest Rupert Wyatt/Matt Reeeves directed trilogy has revitalised the franchise, and War is a fitting conclusion. The CGI is absolutely astonishing, and has improved greatly in the six years since the original.
Of course this helps make the action sequences look all the more realistic but it also allows the actors playing the motion captured roles to give real performances, and Andy Serkis in particular deserves to win an Oscar for his performance as Caesar.
