I had high hopes - but it's a really bad movie. There's no action. Little character development - and what there was is predictable. Moreover, the theme is trite and self-deprecating. Basically, the big bad white man is violent and cruel - forcing the peaceful apes (who are always hugging their children) to work or be killed.
Even the motto "Apes Together. Stronger." is almost a verbatim copy of Hillary Clinton's "stronger together." You think you are seeing an action film - but it's really sickly sweet political satire.
Yuck.
